What do I need to move? Move anything that will assist us to do our job properly, please remove all breakables and anything that you can move safely. Lounge Suites and Dining Tables will be moved as we clean.
How long will the Carpet/Upholstery take to dry? Drying times can vary greatly, depending on several factors e.g. fibre content and construction, pile density, degree of soiling, method of cleaning, room temperature, humidity, air circulation. Our equipment is the always the best on the market, renewed every two to three years and regularly serviced and maintained. In most cases, we usually find it takes 3 – 4 hours for Carpets to dry, while Upholstery varies significantly.

Is it okay for my Children to be in the house? Yes, all our products are 100% safe for Children and Pets but we do ask that they are supervised at all times for their own safety.
Can I walk on the Carpet when wet? In an ideal world, it is best not to. Do not wear coloured socks or slippers whilst the carpet is still damp, the dyes from these may transfer onto the carpet leaving permanent stains. Do not walk on damp carpet in outdoor shoes, as the soil will transfer onto the carpet fibres.
TAKING CARE OF YOU! Please take extra care when stepping from a damp carpet onto a hard surface e.g. kitchen and bathroom floors. The moisture picked up on your feet or footwear can make them very slippery.
How can I speed up the Drying time? Leave open internal doors and external windows (weather and security permitting). Keep the room warm during the winter months by using the heating system.
When can I place existing furniture back and remove foil protectors/foam blocks? Please ensure that the carpet is COMPLETELY DRY before replacing any furniture or removing any of the foil protectors/foam blocks.
Can you fix indentations from heavy furniture? No guarantee can be made on removing indentations from heavy furniture. In addition to the pile of the carpet being crushed, the backing of the carpet is indented. Heat, moisture, and hand grooming with our equipment may help, but it will take time to release back to normal, if at all. Severe cases may be permanent.
Do I need Scotchguard fabric protector? If required we will apply an application of Scotchguard carpet and upholstery protector. Scotchguard forms a protective shield around the fibres, making them significantly more resistant to soil, oil and water based stains and dry soil. Request Scotchguard to help you protect your investment, so you can spend more time enjoying your nice things - not worrying about them. Scotchguard carpet protector can be applied to new or freshly cleaned carpet. Request details 01923 680 651.
What do I do if I have a spill on my freshly cleaned carpet? I am sure that at some time or other you have spilt something on that nice carpet; maybe the children have brought something in on their shoes. After the initial horror the panic sets in. The first stop is the kitchen cupboard or that place under the kitchen sink where ‘chemicals’ are kept. After trying most, if not all, of the contents of the cupboard the stain is still, there, this is the time the professional cleaner is called out to remove it.
Before using any liquid or powder on stains you should always read the label on the container. This rarely happens in the heat of the moment so what we are left with is a cocktail of chemicals that have been rubbed or scrubbed into the carpet.
The first thing is, Don’t Panic. Do not over wet into backing materials, Use detergents at recommended dilution ratios. Scrape up or blot up any access prior to treatment, never rub or scrub, do not use inappropriate detergents on carpets or upholstery i.e. (washing up liquid, wash powders, household bleach and disinfectants). Always work from the out side of the stain inward to avoid spreading. Always apply the cleaning fluid to the absorbent spotting material not directly onto the carpet or fabric, encourage quick drying, deal with stains as quickly as possible for increased chances of success. Keep the fabric or carpet as dry as possible. We can supply you with a good, safe spot and stain remover, Request details 01923 680 651.
If the stain is not removed totally by wetting and blotting then this is the time to contact Shannon Professional Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning.
